Emily Sperou
McNair Graduate Student
Emily grew up in Cottonwood, California. She completed her B.S. in Biology at Sonoma State University in the Fall of 2017. As an undergraduate, she worked in Dr. Dan Crocker’s comparative physiology lab exploring the influence of plasma oxytocin on maternal behavior in female northern elephant seals. Emily received her M.S. in Biology with an emphasis in physiological ecology from Sonoma State University in the Spring of 2020. For her master’s, she specialized in marine mammal physiology, with her thesis focusing on reproductive endocrinology of female northern elephant seals.
In addition to conducting research, Emily has worked for the Sonoma State University Upward Bound Program as a Biology instructor, offering supplemental enrichment courses to underrepresented high school students interested in Biology. Emily recently joined the Trumble lab at Baylor University in the Fall of 2020 to pursue a Ph.D. in Biology.
