Workshop Session 2: What works TODAY to ensure the most selective grad programs consider YOU?

What works TODAY to ensure the most selective grad programs consider YOU?

Doctoral programs are becoming more selective, and it’s getting more difficult to make one’s application stand out. This workshop takes a social-psychologically grounded approach & presents specific recommendations that will strengthen your application, through a) engaging your local network of mentors in a ‘conspiracy’ to get you into graduate school, and b) more effectively researching graduate programs and faculty.

Presented by:

Joseph L Brown
Assistant Dean of Inclusion, Outreach, and Recruitment
Stanford University

Joseph L. Brown is a first-gen student and Army brat from San Antonio, Texas. He is the Assistant Dean of Inclusion, Outreach, and Recruitment for Stanford's School of Humanities and Sciences. He received his B.S. degree in physics from Southwest Texas State University and an Sc.M. degree in bioengineering from Brown University.  His PhD in psychology is from Stanford, where he studied how stereotypes affect the academic identity and performance of minorities and women.
